The bridge type always matters, whether you're using a Cardbus card or not. I haven't had many reports of Toshiba laptop problems with the recent PCMCIA packages, but I know there are still things that are wrong in the support for these ToPIC bridges. The remaining problems are hard to stamp out because the documentation I have is quite poor, and the number of different Toshiba laptops is quite large. As a temporary work around, you can go into your BIOS setup menu, and change the PCMCIA bridge mode. There are three options: "PCIC", "auto", and "CardBus/16-bit". Try all three: you may find one that works, and will get you through the installation. -- Dave |
