Question: 3CXEM556BT network not recognized

I have a Dell Inspiron 7000 with a 3com 3CXEM556BT combo card as well as an Adaptec 1460 slimSCSI card. The modem and the SCSI work fine. However upon startup in RedHat Linux 6.2 I get all High beeps and one low beep and the network part of the card does not work. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks Pam
