Hi, I've got an HP Omnibook XE2 laptop --with kernel 2.2.14 and pcmcia-cs 3.1.8 installed-- and have recently acquired a Psion multifunction PC card (the one in the title above). I haven't yet had the chance to test the ethernet part, but the modem is working fine. Now I have the chance to buy either that or a 3Com CCFEM556B and before I'll make my decision I'd like to ask some questions on this list: 1) Has anybody got the 2 functions on Psion work simultaneously without problems? (not having access to a network where I can test this myself, all I need to hear is yes/no). 2) The same question for 3Com 3CCFEM556B. 3) I simply like 3Com's XJACK mechanism -- I'm curious if this card has 2 xjacks (one for the modem and one for the ethernet jack). If not, how does it work? 4) Finally, if you were to recommend one of them, which one would you go for? 3CCFEM556B is considerably cheaper then the Psion Gold Card, so if they both work equally well on linux, I'm thinking of getting the former. Cheers, Berkan PS: One last question: what is the difference between a Cardbus interface and a normal (16bit?) interface? Whatever it is, is it enough to go for the more expensive card? This is probably not the most appropriate place to ask this, so if somebody could point to a reference etc that I can read that would be great too. Thanks again. |
