I'd written off the long-ping as a Toshiba problem. Just got a new Thinkpad A20p, same card, same problem. This time it's kernel 2.2.16 and pcmcia-cs 3.1.18. Same symptoms... suspend, get approximately 1s pings, instead of 1ms.
