After a lot of fiddling around with my SuSE distribution (which is really not so bad, but has the disadvantage, that the startup process is somewhat different than for example RedHat) everything is working well. The problem really wasn't the driver (as I thought first), but the inconsistencies in the startup process. Thank you very much Dave! /juergen
