Hi Dave, I got and installed the Jul 27 beta package but the results are the same (same values in dmesg and /va/log/messages). I have some new info also. I downloaded and installed the epic-diag.c from Scyld and run the following: localhost.localdomain:/root/tecra>epic-diag -a epic-diag.c:v2.00 4/19/2000 Donald Becker (becker@scyld.com) http://www.scyld.com/diag/index.html Index #1: Found a SMSC EPIC/C 83c175 adapter at 0x1100. The EPIC/100 chip appears to be active, so some registers will not be read. To see all register values use the '-f' flag. No interrupt sources are pending. Rx state is 'Running', Tx state is 'Idle'. Transmitter: slot time 512 bits, half-duplex mode. Last transmit FAILED!!, 0 collisions. Receiver control is 000c, multicast mode. The last Rx frame was 0 bytes, status 0. Index #2: Found a SMSC EPIC/C 83c175 adapter at 0x1000. The EPIC/100 chip appears to be active, so some registers will not be read. To see all register values use the '-f' flag. Interrupt sources are pending. Rx Buffer Overflow indication. Rx threshold crossed indication. Rx state is 'Running', Tx state is 'Running'. Transmitter: slot time 320 bits, full-duplex mode. But, when I executed the last command (epic-diag -m) the green light on my switch went ON. Still not able to do any route add or ping.
