Hello there, I have two Wavelan IEEE silver cards. One is on my PC with the ISA-to-PCMCIA adapter. The other is on an older laptop (pentium 100). I'm using ad-hoc mode. I have two problems. One has to do with the wavelan2_cs driver from lucent. It misreports the link quality stats. I can bring up interfaces, ping the other computer, etc. But those link quality stats is what I'm after. Doing a 'cat /proc/net/wireless' gives me the following:
Inter-|sta| Quality | Discarded packets face |tus|link level noise| nwid crypt misc eth1 00 0. 154. 154. 0 0 0 (or eth0 in the case of the laptop). The second problem has to do with the wvlan_cs driver, I can install the module, but can't bring up any interface using ifconfig. Neither 'eth1' (or eth0) nor 'wvlan0' are recognized. I keep getting the following message (when I specify a IP address): SIOCSIFADDR: No such device eth1: unknown interface: No such device (or wvlan0 in place of eth1) OTOH, when I just try to bring the interface up without specifying the IP address, I get: eth1: unknown interface: No such device actually, any action with the iwconfig program comes back with a SIOCSXXXXXX: No such device I'm using kernel 2.2.13, pcmcia-cs 3.1.15, wireless extensions 19, and the slackware 7.0 distribution. The lucent driver I'm using is 6.00 (with HCF 4.6). Firmware on cards is 4.52. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanx Avijit
