Question wvlan_cs: Initialization failed!

Forum: PCMCIA Wireless Network Adapter Issues

I'm trying to set up wireless network using Lucent WaveLAN IEEE pccards. I compiled the pcmcia package 3.1.16 on a system with a 2.0.36 kernel (for an embedded system). On insertion of the card I get:

cardmgr[67]: initializing socket 1
cardmgr[67]: socket 1: Lucent Technologies WaveLAN/IEEE Adapter
cardmgr[67]: executing: 'modprobe wvlan_cs port_type=3 channel=1 station_name=MY_PC'
kernel: wvlan_cs: WaveLAN/IEEE PCMCIA driver v1.0.4
kernel: wvlan_cs: (c) Andreas Neuhaus <andy@fasta.fh-dortmund.de>
kernel: wvlan_cs: index 0x01: Vcc 5.0, irq 5, io 0x0100-0x013f
kernel: wvlan_cs: Registered netdevice wvlan0
kernel: wvlan_cs: Initialization failed!
cardmgr[67]: executing: './network start wvlan0'
kernel: wvlan_cs: wvlan0 Tx timed out! Resetting card
kernel: wvlan_cs: Initialization failed!
  last two lines repeating

An ethernet card is running fine.

Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?
