Excluding the ranges in /proc/ioports can never help: PCMCIA knows
about those devices.

When you upgrade your PCMCIA drivers, some files are automatically
replaced (but backed up as *.O).  The startup script is not replaced;
the new version is installed as pcmcia.N instead, because there are
situations where installing the new one might break things.
