Hi,
I have a RBEM56G-100 PCMCIA card in a DELL Inspiron 7500.
The ethernet portion works quite well. It's not perfect as I do get RX errors:
drizzt:~$ ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:10:A4:C4:52:BA
inet addr:192.168.0.8 Bcast:192.168.0.255 mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:56 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
Interrupt:11 Base address:0x200
The modem, on the other hand, it quite flawed. It will
connect and work fine until it decides to stop. It will only
stop on certain things - like a web page or ftp site.
When it stops, I go somewhere else and it works fine.
Example, whenever I try to download the file:
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/distributions/redhat/updates/6.2/i386/kernel-source-2.2.16-3.i386.rpm
it will get about the first 30K and then stall....
but I can go to a different ftp site and get a different file
in the same session. It will ALWAYS fail on that particular
file.
There are certain web pages that do the same thing.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? I wrote to Xircom
and they told me that they are actively working with the open
source community to develop tulip_cb.c. True?
Thanks for the help.
Don
