Xircom re-100 and Linux 6 compared to 7.1

Hi, I recently instealled the Linux Mandrake 7.1 OS and My PCMCIA Xircom RE-100 card didn't work. I had an old copy of Mandrake 6.0 laying around and I tried it..and it detected my network card. Why would my card work in an older version but not in a new one? Isn't that kind of backwards. Anyone have any ideas? I did download the pcmcia-cs files and compiled them. With no luck. I would really like to use the 7.1 version of mandrake. Thanks a lot -Dan
