Hi David,
The both laptops in the office are Armada 1750's with the xircom 10/100 pcmcia drivers. The hardware is as identical as possible when purchased a couple of weeks apart. They have 333MHz Mobile Pent II, 128M RAM and 6G HDD. One of the laptops is running 2.2.13 and I'm running 2.2.14pre9. Both are on top of Opencaldera 2.3. PCMCIA I've tried is 3.1.4 & 3.1.5 (to get 10Mbit working on the xircom). Using 3.1.5 will cause the machine to lock up within 2 minutes. Using 3.1.4 will allow the machine hang around for up to an hour or so but will finally lock solid as well. The network in the office is a 100Mbit hub with a Solaris server along with 3 NT boxes. There is nothing in the logs around the time of the lockup (except the dropped packets I reported in an earler message) To get the machine to lock up is a matter of generating lots of 100Mbit traffic (in our case using Legato backup software to backup a machine across the network). The laptop sitting idle (or busy) but not involved with the backup will just lock solid. vmware has to be running. The machine without vmware will function as normal. Any other information can be produced upon request. Best regards Mark Harvey
