Question: CBEM56G sleeps 'til a little nudge thru tcpdump(?!)

Hi!

A couple of weeks ago, I installed V 3.0.14 on a Compaq Armada 1700 with SUSE Linux 6.0 and a CBEM56G. Worked fine from the start.

Yesterday I installed V 3.1.4 on a different Armada 1700 with SUSE Linux 6.2 and a CBEM56G on it.

During bootup, the Card starts and ifconfig shows my eth0 - interface. Only I can't ping anything from this machine and the machine doesn't reply to pings from other machines in the net - until I start tcpdump on my Compaq. Then suddenly everything works fine until the next reboot.

Sure it looks a bit funny to first start tcpdump before I can use my card. Is there a more clean way / configuration hint?

TIA,
       Kai Krebber
