I am having the problem where the CBEM56G and PCMCIA 3.1.19 are almost, but not quite, working. The modem appears to work fine without any tweaks needed. The ethernet card works but only after restarting some daemons. When linuxconf issues the commands /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S10network reload and /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S50inet restart then the ethernet card works, so also it appears to me that the CBEM56G simply needs some daemon to be restarted and it will work with RH6.1 on the inspiron 7500. So I tried Stefan's suggestion, adding /sbin/ifconfig eth0 down up right after the specified location but it did not get the card working. I still have to go into linuxconf to get the system to issue the above commands to get it working. There are no error messages in /var/log/messages, tulip_cb seems to be setting up fine. But I am way out of my league here, is there an easier way to trigger the restart of the network and inet daemons than using linuxconf? Something I could just add to the rc* script? Is there something else I should try in /etc/pcmcia/network? Thanks, Charlie |
