The problem with promiscuous mode still exists in the latest 3.1.16 alpha/beta. I've been using this Xircom under Redhat (up to 6.2) with no problems and now I need the latest PCMCIA package to support the RayLink (WebGear Aviator) wireless card. Unfortunately, this breaks the Xircom. My laptop is a dhcp client and dhcpcd resets the interface flags when it starts so the 'ifconfig eth0 promisc' workaround doesn't work. There is a clumsy solution where I can start dhcpcd, pause it, run ifconfig then resume dhcpcd (in a shell as root), but this is a MAJOR pain. It seems this is broken all the way back to 3.1.8 (7 months ago)! How hard is this to fix, really? If it is working under RedHat 6.[012], why can't the working code get merged back in?
